remote keypad - controller pcb
Develec's Remote Data Capture Unit can be supplied as a Printed Circuit Board for
OEM system integration. You can install the PCB into your existing systems or equipment.

The PCB is a glass fibre, double-sided, through-hole plated board. Particular care
was taken in routing the PCB to ensure that there are no 90 degree corners and no
vias. This boosts the PCB's reliability. Use your mouse to identify PCB
features.
The main controller PCB is 82mm by 102mm. Four 3mm mounting holes are provided on
76mm x 94mm centres. The highest components (IDC ribbon connectors with strain relief)
are 25mm.

Connections
Three types of connectors are used:
- Molex 2-pin Header for an external buzzer
- ICD (Ribbon Cable) connectors for the Keypad, Expansion Port and the LCD Display.
- Phoenix Contact Connector Blocks with wire cages for all other connections.
Network and Power
Two four-way connector blocks are provided for network connection. The 'incoming'
cable is connected to the one connector block and the 'outgoing' cable is connected
to the other connector block.
All connections on the two connectors are electrically connected, on board, to the
corresponding connections on the other connector. RS485 is a bussed network standard
and a continuous connection is required from end-to-end.
A termination jumper is provided on the PCB as both ends of the RS485 network should
be terminated. The required termination resistance is 120 ohms and only the devices
at each end of the network should be terminated. Shorting the terminator jumper
connects an on-board 120 ohm resistor across the two network data lines. Thus it
is unnecessary to supply an external terminator. NB Ensure that ONLY the two devices
at the extreme ends of the network are terminated.
